Sing Sing Sing
I am bliss!
This song is a dialogue between a Sitar and 4 guitars based on the night Raga scale Chandrakauns, usually played at midnight. The theme although set in Chandrakauns, keeps changing through scale variations, and as a result, the initial theme at the beginning of the song and the theme at the middle or at the end transform to become different, despite the song providing the illusion of the main melodic line remaining the same as stated in the beginning.
“It's really satisfying to create a melody line, where, after the return to the line from a musical excursion, the listener wouldn't realise that the original line hasn't changed, especially when indeed it had -- that's the power of Mahamaya: the illusion.
Come back my Love is a rhythmically vigorous and longing track made from a combination of a sitar and four guitars. It is based on night Raga scale Chandrakauns which is usually played at midnight. Ideally from the word “ chandra” which means “moon”, this track creates a complex rhythmic vibe made with infinite raga patterns and variations making the song even more distinctive.
The Mahamaya Experience creates music that blends Jazz, Rock and Funk, crafting sounds that are complex and distinctive. Uniquely, Mahamaya’s music asks us to “visualize an alternative world which is not driven only by 'ego' based technology and 'phallic' innovation”.
Today we are excited to share our thoughts on The Mahamaya Experience’s song, “Come Back My Love”!
“Come Back My Love” is a delight for any lovers of strings out there, with this instrumental piece featuring four guitars and a sitar. Indeed, this song is richly textured and I love how many different melodies there are to unpack within this one. There are also two different improvised guitar solos that Mahamaya released for this song; both are a little over one minute in length and are quite captivating. As a whole, this song is incredibly special and provides a refreshing kind of feeling that I really enjoyed.
